Church Tour

Forest first took us to the San Antonio church run by Pastor Vincente, who worked with us yesterday at San Lorenzo.

Pastor Vincente lives in this small, one room cottage on the church property. Short term missions from California helped with the construction of the church and parsonage.

Here is Pastor Vincente delivering his Sunday message.

Second up was the Nemby church. This church has planted the San Antonio church, and just planted a second church.

The church raised up Pastor Vincente, his brother, Pastor Fermin and a third young man as disciples. Keeping it in the family, a sister of the two brothers married the third disciple. Pastor Mauro leads the church - You can see him leading worship, playing guitar.

An associate pastor is living in the church office, while the second story addition is being built as a very small apartment for him. You can see three walls completed. A fourth wall, roof, and staircase is still needed.

We spoke with him on the church's prayer needs. They just planted the church Fermin leads. This split off many of the tithing families, and has created financial struggles. He asked us to pray for the financial needs of the church and for and for support of the evangelist work in reaching the neighborhood.

Lambare was our next stop. The church is on the main thoroughfare of the third largest city in Paraguay. Pastor Bernardini leads the church. His son Marcos was the pastor doing VBS.

The church is in the second floor of this rented building.

An apartment is rented in this building across the street for classes.

We crossed the street and visited the children while they were doing games.

We then did a drive by of the Hipodromo Church. Pastor Filomeno is working with David and Diego, two high school students who have a call to ministry. We prayed for Filomeno to disciple these two young men and for the church to connect with the neighborhood.

Our final stop was the main Asuncion church that had it's beginnings in the late 1960s.

Here's a shot of the interior of the church, with the worship team doing a few worship songs after the service.

Jay became the pastor in the past couple months, but the church is looking for a permanent pastor, since Jay must return to the states within a year. His wife Karen is to the right of him in the picture. Jay and Karen and the other CMA missionaries will be joining us for lunch at the Boston's tomorrow.

We prayed for unity for the church, for God to identify Jay's replacement, and for the church to connect with the neighborhood with it's outreach project next weekend and the body to connect to their ministry callings and find more active roles in the church.
