More Shopping

As Brenda was finishing cakes for the Ladies Tea, Bob took us shopping in Asuncion, and gave us a tour of various points of interest, such as the river harbor where freight arrives, housing along the river, and various government and military buildings. Returning from the trip, Forest was paining a neighbor's gate across the street.

Jenn bought a traditional Terede tea set - Insulated jug, cup and strainer straw. This is a cold tea that folks drink. They share the cup and straw, so you share germs and diseases, too, such as the cold Bob caught earlier this week.

Lisa modeling her new bag and necklaces. The girls got some necklaces for 2 mils, others for an expensive 5 mils (about $1.25)

Susan modeling her haircut from last night and new poncho and handbag purchased today. The poncho was 35 mil - or less than $10. I bought a nice leather money belt that was hand tooled for 30 mil - under $8.

Susan modeling our new tablecloth. She really splurged on the tablecloth set (with four napkins), and leather handbag - they were 277 mil, or about $70 total.

Bank of Bob had to finance some of these purchases. After the shopping Domi and I went out to use an ATM. The first ATM didn't read my card, and said it didn't support Domi's network. The second ATM didn't read either card, so I had to resort to McGiver tactics - borrowing a plastic grocery bag from Jenn, and sliding the card in the machine wrapped in the bag. The ATM gave us the choice of dollars or local currency. Thanks to Jenn for the bag - without it we'd still be looking for an ATM.
