Eating mbuyu and the Beauty Salon

Bet you can't pronounce that!  It is pronounced bay-jew.  It is made from the yucca plant and has cheese in it and is fried on an outdoor grill.  Yes we are eating from the street vendors - however it is always supervised!

Today, after whitewashing - which is really white water - we now sympathize with Tom Sawyer.  First you brush the wall up and down and then the next coat is brushed sideways.  This technique was only learned today and we spent yesterday at a loss as to how this white water would even cover anything.  It all really does work and the walls we did yesterday did look fine.

We also went to the beauty shop today - all 5 of the girls.  We totally took over with 5 shampoos and conditioning and 5 manicures and two pedicures and a trim.  You don't make appointments - just walk in and wait for your turn.  This was great pampering after 6 days of painting and cleaning - boy did we need it!

This was our last day of working at the church.  It kind of makes us sad that we are done with that part of our experience.  We have been so enriched by each person that we have worked with and shared with.  We are looking forward to the women's tea on Saturday. (Te de Damas)

Blessings, Fran

Hi Frances,
What a blessing to read a post written by you. It sure sounds like you are doing really well there. It has been great to be able to see and read what you are doing.
I am glad you got to have a day of pampering after all the work you have been doing.
I am praying that the tea will be a wonderful time and lots of the women will come and learn more about what Jesus can mean to them.
I can't believe you have been eating the food, you are brave:)
Love ya,
Roxane
